Lorry Loader / Hiab

ALLMI is the only accrediting body to specialise in lorry loader training and it delivers the only operator programme to be written by the lorry loader industry, for the lorry loader industry.

The ALLMI card is arguably the UK's most sought after lorry loader operator qualification.

The ALLMI training scheme is approved by CSCS. Therefore, the CSCS logo is displayed on your ALLMI Lorry Loader Card.

The course duration is one day for experienced candidates and a minimum of two days for novice candidates. Both the one and two day courses culminate in a written and practical examination.

These courses will cover:

  • Course Introduction

  • Legislation

  • Introduction to the Equipment

  • Pre-Operational Checks

  • Operator Maintenance

  • Lifting Equipment / Attachements

  • Siting the Lorry Loader

  • Deployment of Stabiliser Legs

  • Use of Controls

  • Preparing the Lorry Loader for Use

  • Operating the Lorry Loader

  • Stowing Procedures

  • Prepare for Assessment / Revision

  • Assessments

  • Final Adminstration & Candidate Feedback

Distinction is made between different types of attachment, capacity of the loader, remote controlled loaders and various specialist applications (e.g. static mount, etc). Categories are in place due to the individual skill requirements needed to operate these types of loader crane safely and efficiently.

For example, if an operator is trained and certificated in the use of only a hoist attachment (category 2), they should not be permitted to use other attachments until conversion training has been undertaken. Likewise, a certificated operator who is trained on the use of lorry loaders with a capacity of up to 20tm, is not to use a lorry loader with a capacity greater than 20tm, as conversion training will first be required.
